2025年10月2日、人文社会系系長室において、本学人文社会系とアグデル大学理工学部との間で部局間協定の調印式が執り行われた。本協定は学生間交流を対象とせず、研究者間交流に重点を置いた内容となっている。
アグデル大学理工学部には、学士課程および修士課程におけるeスポーツ学位プログラムが設置されており、すでに学生の受入れや授業が開始されている。また、同学部はAI関連研究においても高い実績を有しており、本学のAI研究との連携深化が期待される。
調印式は、臼山利信系長とRune Anderson准教授との間で行われ、本協定に関する連絡調整責任者は、本学人文社会系の篠原翼助教およびアグデル大学のTobias Scholz准教授が務めることとなった。
日本が世界のゲーム産業を牽引してきた背景を踏まえ、eスポーツ・ゲーム研究を推進することは極めて重要である。さらに、本研究は人文社会系の2025年度重点施策・改善目標にも位置づけられており、本協定の締結は国際共同研究を推進するうえで大きな意義を有している。
Conclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding with University of Agder (Faculty of Engineering and Science)
On 2 October 2025, a signing ceremony was held in the Dean’s Office of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences to formalise a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Tsukuba and the Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Agder. This MoU focuses on researcher exchange rather than student exchange.
The Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Agder offers esports degree programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with student recruitment and teaching already in progress. The faculty also has a distinguished track record in AI-related research, raising strong expectations for closer collaboration with our university’s own AI research initiatives.
The agreement was signed by Dean of the Institute Prof Dr Toshinobu Usuyama and Associate Professor Rune Anderson. The designated liaison coordinators are Assistant Professor Dr Tsubasa Shinohara (Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences) and Associate Professor Tobias Scholz (University of Agder).
Given Japan’s leading role in the global gaming industry, the advancement of esports and game studies is of great importance. Moreover, this research area is a core element of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences’ strategic priorities and improvement objectives for the 2025 academic year. The conclusion of this MoU therefore carries significant meaning in strengthening international collaborative research.
